Euroopa Liidu, mille probleemid ja tulevased reformid moodustavad põhiteadmised institutsiooni mõistmiseks, tegevuspõhimõtted tulenevad tema poliitikatest ja arusaamast, kuidas neid põhimõtteid on arendatud ning ellu viidud. Kaasaegsed probleemid on seotud olemasolevate ja planeeritavate poliitikatega, vanade poliitikate reformidega ja uute poliitikate loomisega.

To understand how the European Union works and how its power is implemented in the member states via the European policies. The principles of action of the European Union reside in its policies, hence understanding them, how they have been developed, how they have been implemented, problems and future reforms are basic knowledge to understand the European Union. Contemporary issues are related to the policies, existing and planned, reforms of the old policies, creating new policies.

Üliõpilased kategoriseerivad valdkondi, kus Euroopa jagab liikmesriikide ühist suveräänsust, nende tööpõhimõtteid, tõhusust ja probleeme, ja analüüsivad nii praegust olukorda kui nende poliitikate edasist arengut.

The students categorize the fields where Europe has the shared sovereignty of the member states, how they work, how effective they are and what problems they have and analyze the current situation and the future development of these policies.

Kursus annab teoreetiliselt ja ajalooliselt põhjendatud multidistsiplinaarse analüüsi Euroopa poliitikate elluviimisest. Üliõpilased analüüsivad ELi siseseid poliitikaid ja nende mõju Euroopa, aga ka mitte-Euroopa ühiskondadele. Samuti käsitletakse analüütilisi vahendeid ja juhised, kuidas hinnata Euroopa projekti tulevikku.

The course provides a theoretically and historically grounded multi-disciplinary analysis of Europe as a result of the implementation of its policies. The students will analyse internal EU policies and their impact on European, but also non European societies. It also provides analytical tools and guidelines on how to judge the future of the European project.
