Selle aine eesmärgiks on anda alusteadmised internetitehnoloogiast, arvutivõrkudest ja oskused nende rakendamiseks tegelikus töökeskkonnas. Kui tudeng läbib ka selle aine teise osa "Võrgutehnoloogia II", siis ta on ette valmistatud CCNA(Cisco sertifitseeritud võrguspetsialist) sertifikaadi eksamiks.

This course gives students basic knowledge about internet technology, computer networks and ability to implement them in real world. The students will be prepared to take the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Accociate) exam if they have also studied the second part of this course "Network technology II ".

Peale kursuse läbimist tudeng:
on valmis sooritama CCENT(Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician) sertifikaadieksamit;
oskab paigaldada, hallata ja lahendada probleeme väikestes marsruuditud ja kommuteeritud võrkudes.

After completing this course student:
is prepared to give CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician) certification exam;
can install, operate, and troubleshoot small routed and switched networks.

Kursus baseerub Cisco õppematerjali CCNA Exploration esimesel kahel peatükil: „Network Fundamentals" ja „Routing Protocols and Concepts".
Käsitlust leiavad võrgu terminoloogiad ja protokollid, lokaalvõrgud (LAN), OSI ja TCP/IP mudel, võrgu planeerimine ja kaabeldamine, Ethernet, internetiprotokolli IP aadresseerimine ja marsruutimine. Praktikumides kasutatakse Cisco kommutaatoreid ja marsruutereid.

This course is based on first two chapters of CCNA Exploration Curricula: Network Fundamentals, Routing Protocols and Concepts.
Topics covered: network terminology and protocols, local-area networks (LANs), Open System Interconnection (OSI) models, network planning and cabling, Ethernet, Internet Protocol (IP) addressing and routing. Cisco switches and routers are used throughout the course.
