Aine eesmärk on õpetada:
- IT juhtimise ja ülalhoiu juhtimise probleeme ning meetodeid;
- IT teenuse halduse põhimõtteid ja vajadust planeerida ning juhtida vastavaid protsesse;
- IT ülalhoiu praktilisi aspekte.

The aim of this course is to teach:
- the main issues and methods related to IT management and operation;
- the principles of IT service management, and the need to plan and manage the relevant processes;
- the practical aspects of IT operation.

Aine läbinu teab mis on IT juhtimine ja ülalhoid, tunneb IT juhtimise ja ülalhoiu peamisi probleeme ning meetodeid, tunneb IT teenuse haldamise põhimõtteid ja oskab planeerida ning juhtida IT ülalhoiu protsesse.

After completing the course, the student has an understanding of IT management and operation, the main related issues and methods, IT service management principles, and is able to plan and manage IT operation processes.

Peamised teemad: IT haldamise ja infrastruktuuri põhimõisted, IT ja äri vahelised seosed, ITIL-i jt. IT haldamise protsessid ja nendevahelised soesed, IT lahenduste olemus ja nende vajaduste mõistmine, IT lahenduste valiku praktikas kasutatavad kriteeriumid, IT organisatsioon ja erinevad rollid, sisekontroll ja auditeerimine, serveriruumid ja neile esitatavad nõuded, lühiülevaade IT usaldusväärsusega seotud problemaatikast.

Main topics: key concepts of IT management and infrastructure, links between IT and business, ITIL et al IT management processes and links between them, understanding the nature of and need for IT solutions, criteria used in practice for selecting IT solutions, IT organisation and different roles, internal control and audit, server rooms and their requirements, a brief overview of IT reliability issues.
